Memphis woman arrested for smuggling drugs into Louisiana federal prison

RAPIDES PARISH, La. (WNTZ) – A Memphis woman is facing multiple charges after deputies say she attempted to smuggle drugs into the federal prison in Grant Parish.

According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, Lametria Burchett, 32, of Memphis, Tennessee, was arrested by the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office. Burchett is accused of trying to bring Suboxone and marijuana into the facility.

Deputies said she was booked on charges of possession of Suboxone with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and taking contraband into a penal institution.

No further details were immediately available.
