The conference confirmed both Carmel and Center Grove will return to the MIC beginning in the 2026-27 school year.
Carmel and Center Grove were original MIC members when the conference was established in 1996. Three decades later, the MIC boasts the most state championships in Indiana.
In 2021, Carmel High School and Center Grove High School were both removed from the MIC in a unanimous vote.
Now, Carmel and Center Grove are set to return to the conference after a multi-year absence. The central Indiana schools currently a part of the MIC are Ben Davis, Lawrence Central, Lawrence North, North Central, Pike and Warren Central.
“The MIC has always been defined by strong competition and shared expectations,” said Carmel and Center Grove principals in a joint statement. “This decision positions the conference to move forward with clarity and purpose as we enter our 30th year.”
