AAA Texas: Gas prices fluctuate as the Fall season looms
According to AAA Texas, drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average at $3.19 per gallon, while drivers in Laredo and San Angelo are paying the least at $2.64 per gallon. Drivers in Amarillo are paying $2.78 per gallon, which is 7 cents more than last week and 3 cents less than the same day last year.
AAA Texas officials stated that despite the increase in gas prices, drivers are paying the same as they did last year. Officials noted that gasoline demand is easing as Fall arrives and crude oil supply continues to outpace demand, and the seasonal shift to less expensive winter-blend gasoline is now underway.
“Even though we’ve seen a slight week-to-week increase, drivers are essentially paying what they were at this time last year,” said Daniel Armbruster, spokesperson for AAA Texas. “With demand tapering off after the busy summer travel season and the switch to winter-blend fuel beginning, motorists could see some relief at the pump in the weeks ahead.”
