According to AAA Texas, drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average at $2.95 per gallon, while drivers in Lubbock are paying the least at $2.58 per gallon. Drivers in Amarillo are paying $2.67 per gallon, which is eight cents less than last week and 11 cents less than the same day last year.
AAA Texas officials stated Texas drivers are paying slightly less at the pump compared to last week. Officials noted that factors for the price drop include seasonal factors like reduced demand after the summer driving season and the ongoing switch to less expensive winter-blend gasoline. However, with hurricane season in November, storm activity in the Gulf could cause temporary price spikes.
“Gas prices are down compared to last week and remain close to what Texans were paying a year ago,” said Daniel Armbruster, AAA Texas spokesperson. “Seasonal factors like reduced demand and the switch to winter-blend gasoline are helping ease prices. While things are calming down at the pump, it’s important to remember that hurricane season continues through November.”
