Woman dies from internal trauma on Indy’s west side; IMPD launches death investigation

INDIANAPOLIS — A death investigation is underway after police found a woman dead from internal trauma inside a home on the city’s west side.

Indianapolis Metro police were called just before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to the 4900 block of Rockville Road on report of a death. This is a residential area near the intersection of Rockville Road and N. Lynhurst Drive.

Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive adult female inside a home. EMS was called to the house and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

IMPD said that initially, there were visible signs of trauma on the woman’s body. However, an autopsy conducted Wednesday by the Marion County Coroner’s Office revealed that the woman had suffered internal trauma.

Police announced just before 6 p.m. Wednesday that the case has now been ruled a homicide and that a death investigation has been launched. The exact cause and manner of the woman’s death has yet to be determined and she has not yet been publicly identified.

Anyone with information on the woman’s death is being asked to call IMPD Detective TyAnn Lambert at (317) 327-3475 or email the detective at TyAnn.Lambert@indy.gov. To make an anonymous tip, call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS.
