PHOTOS: Abilene Zoo unveils renovation plans for Africa section
Following the completion of the upgraded Caribbean Cove exhibit, attention now turns to the Africa section of the zoo. Upcoming projects include a new multi-species habitat, upgraded spaces for lions, meerkats, hyenas, and cheetahs, plus a two-story café and event lawn.
These improvements are funded through a multi-million-dollar 2023 bond and were outlined in the agenda packet for the Mayor’s Advisory Board for People with Disabilities. All exhibits will feature TAS-compliant viewing areas and concrete sidewalks along their perimeters.
