
Around 11:10 a.m. on Sept. 4, NOPD officers were called to conduct a wellness check in the 1400 block of Elysian Fields Avenue. Officers said the reporting person found a man inside lying on the floor unresponsive.
EMS responded and declared the man dead on the scene.
An autopsy done by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office on Sept. 5 discovered the man had suffered a gunshot wound.
The coroner determined this to be the cause of death and the investigation was reclassified as a homicide.
No further details are available. The NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.
