The ‘Bods start their season 4-0 after going undefeated in the ‘Oredigger Volleyball Classic’ in Colorado last weekend. Washburn jumped 10 spots in week one of the AVCA Rankings, from No.22 to No. 12.
“There’s a fine line between being good and being exceptional,” Washburn volleyball head coach Chris Herron said. “And we’re trying to be exceptional here.”
The ‘Bods went 21-8 last season and 11-5 in conference play. Washburn was picked to finish third in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll this season.
“This past weekend, yeah, we went 4-0, but I don’t think we are satisfied with ourselves,” sophomore outside hitter Keilah Rivers said. “I think every week we want to keep improving.”
“There’s an expectation, I think our kids have an expectation,” Herron said. “They have high goals for themselves.”
Their first MIAA conference match of the season is at home against Northwest Missouri State on Sep. 26.
