Juvenile accused of sending social media threat at Hickory Christian Academy: Police

HICKORY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A juvenile has been charged after officials said they posted a social media threat mentioning Hickory Christian Academy, according to the Hickory Police Department.

On Sunday, September 7, school staff told officers about the social media threat. Investigators were able to quickly identify a juvenile who was responsible for the threat, officials said.

On Tuesday, September 9, a juvenile petition was issued for the suspect through the NC Department of Juvenile Justice for felony communication of a threat of mass violence on educational property.

“The Hickory Police Department takes all potential threats to schools very seriously and will investigate threats promptly and thoroughly,” police said. “Based on this investigation, there are no known possible threats.”
