ELYSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A Pennsylvania roller coaster has been named the best in the world at a national award ceremony.

Knoebels says its Phoenix wooden coaster was named number one in the world for the seventh consecutive time at the Golden Ticket Awards.

The park says the Phoenix coaster now holds the record for the longest-running winner of the top wooden roller coaster award and has made the top 10 each year for more than two decades.

“We’re incredibly honored Phoenix continues to soar, which is a testament to the ride’s legendary design, and the passion and precision our team puts into maintaining and operating it,” said Brian Knoebel, co-owner/co-manager. “Our maintenance team cares for Phoenix with the same craftsmanship that brought it back to life, and our ride operators help deliver the experience with enthusiasm and efficiency each day.”

The park was also awarded a “Legend” distinction for its food at the award ceremony.

Knoebels was also recognized with the fourth-best guest experience award, and received two recognitions among the Top 50 wooden roller coasters for Twister and Flying Turns.

Locally, Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster was named “Best Family Park of 2024,” and Hersheypark’s Lightning Racer ranked 29th on the Best Wooden Coaster list.

Kennywood’s Jack Rabbit, Thunderbolt, and Racer also ranked among the best wooden coasters.

Hersheypark’s Wildcat’s Revenge, Skyrush, and Candymonium each ranked in the Top 50 Steel Roller Coasters list. Kennywood’s Phantom’s Revenge ranked 11th on the steel coaster list.
