Woman riding scooter dies in San Jose hit-and-run crash Monday

(BCN) — A woman riding an electric scooter was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Monday morning in downtown San Jose, police said.

The crash occurred shortly after 8 a.m. in the area of Santa Clara and Cahill streets, near Caltrain’s San Jose Diridon Station. The woman was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries. Her name wasn’t released.

The vehicle involved fled the scene and police are investigating.

Santa Clara Street is closed in both directions from Stockton Avenue to Barack Obama Boulevard. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
