Authorities had earlier alerted all students, staff and visitors to stay away from campus on Sunday due to a reported bomb threat.
“A bomb threat was reported at Leavey & Doheny Memorial Libraries at University Park Campus,” USC stated on social media around 2:45 p.m. “Stay away from the area.”
A second update shared just before 4 p.m. said the threat was under investigation and again asked that community members stay away.
According to the USC website, the Department of Public Safety is responsible for assessing potential threats and advising building occupants if evacuation is necessary.
USC’s protocol states that, in such cases, occupants should assemble in their building’s designated evacuation area and remain at least 300 feet away until officials say it is safe to return.
