Central Texas ticket wins share of $1.8B Powerball jackpot

AUSTIN (KXAN) — On Saturday, the big winner of the $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot was announced, and one of the two winners is reported to be from Central Texas.

On Saturday, September 7, the winning numbers announced were 11, 23, 44, 61, and 62; the powerball number was 17. There were two winning tickets. The first was reported to be from Texas, sold at a Fredericksburg convenience store, and the second ticket was from Missouri.

Both winners matched all six numbers and will be splitting the estimated $1.787-billion jackpot. This draw ends a 42-drawing streak without a jackpot winner, and is said to be the second-largest U.S. lottery jackpot on record.

Winners are given the decision to choose between receiving annual payments over 30 years or a single lump-sum payout, both before taxes.
