MSP: Three arrested, multiple firearms seized in illegal car rally investigation
Police say on June 29, officers received reports of a “large-scale illegal car rally” with roughly 300 participants. There, officers noticed a silver Dodge Durango had its license plate covered with duct tape and attempted to pull the driver over.
Both the driver and passenger exited the car and ran from the scene. Officers proceeded to search the Durango and found two loaded firearms and ammunition inside.
During the investigation, police identified Malachi James, 21, of Temple Hills; Khadeem George, 20, and Kareem Isaroon, 50, both of Indian Head, Md., as suspects.
On Sept. 3, the Maryland Car Rally Task Force and various law enforcement agencies seized additional firearms after searching three homes in Prince George’s County and residences in Indian Head, Clinton, and Temple Hills, Md.
According to police, James was charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, exhibition driving, handgun possession, other firearm-related charges, and traffic citations.
Police said George was charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm by a minor, and other firearm-related charges, and Isaroon was charged with illegal possession of ammunition.
James was arrested and transported to the Howard County Detention Center, where he has since been released.
George and Isaroon were arrested and transported to the Charles County Detention Center, where George was released on bond, and Isaroon is being held without bond.
