Car crashes into pole, house in Frederick killing an infant

FREDERICK, Md. (DC News Now) — Police are investigating after an infant was killed in a car crash in Frederick on Sunday morning.

The Maryland State Police (MSP) said troopers responded to the 12000 residential block of Woodsboro Pike just before 11 a.m. for reports of a car crash.

There, troopers found the driver, a 26-year-old woman, a 6-month-old baby and a 3-year-old boy after their Dodge Durango had crashed.

The boy and the woman were taken to the hospital. The driver was reported to be uninjured.

The infant was flown to the hospital, where he later died.

MSP said preliminarily, the Dodge is believed to have been headed north when, for unknown reasons, it struck a telephone pole and crashed into a house.

No one was home at the time of the crash.

MSP said it does not believe impairment was the cause of the crash.

The investigation is still ongoing.
