TONIGHT: Any showers that develop this evening will come to an end. Skies will generally be partly cloudy. Overnight lows will be in the low to mid 70s.
LOOKING AHEAD: The weather will cooperate for the first home game for LSU and Southern in Baton Rouge on Saturday. Expect a mix of clouds and sunshine with highs in the lower 90s. The heat index will be closer to 100, so be sure to stay hydrated out there. There is a slight chance for a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening hours. This is all ahead of a cold front that will move through the area on Sunday, bringing a drier airmass behind it. We’ll start off next week with lows in the 60s and highs mainly in the upper 80s. Next week will be fairly dry.
TRACKING THE TROPICS:
A tropical wave continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms west of the Cabo Verde Islands. The National Hurricane Center has lowered development chances to 60%, down from 90%, as the system battles dry air. For now, it continues to be something to monitor but is no threat to the Gulf or the United States at this time.
