The Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA) announced in a press release on Sept. 5 the closures are meant to accommodate repairs to the overhead I-35/KTA bridges that were struck in mid-April by a semi-truck. All traffic will be shifted to the existing westbound side with a single lane in each direction for painting of the bridge girders. The new lane configuration is expected to be in place through the end of September.
“Travelers should anticipate delays through the affected area and allow extra time for travel,” said the Kansas Turnpike Authority in a press release. “Updated travel information will be available on KanDrive at KanDrive.gov or by calling 511 in Kansas or 866-511-5368 outside Kansas.”
