Robert Lee Wiltz, 36, of Carencro, is charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice in connection with the death of Amy Louviere, 40, of Breaux Bridge.
Police responded to a call from a local hospital Wednesday afternoon regarding a woman who was dropped off at the emergency room with life-threatening injuries consistent with blunt force trauma.
Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Breaux Bridge Police Department, identified the suspect as Wiltz. He was arrested Wednesday evening at a residence in Breaux Bridge, officials said.
Wiltz was originally charged with attempted second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. Police were notified Thursday afternoon that Louviere had died, and the charges were then upgraded, authorities said.
Wiltz was booked into the St. Martin Parish Jail. Bond details were not released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
