16-year-old stabbed on Taylorsville SLCC campus

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (ABC4) — A 16-year-old boy was walking on the west side of Salt Lake Community College’s Redwood Campus in Taylorsville when he was attacked and stabbed in the back.

Officials with Utah Highway Patrol, who provide police services for the community college, said they responded to the stabbing that happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The boy reported he was being followed by a white GMC truck. Two men reportedly jumped out of the truck and stabbed the boy in the back. Officers believes this is a gang-related incident.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries. He was released within a few hours.

UHP confirmed they are conducting a thorough investigation with the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).

The UHP/SBI is requesting any information related to this incident, or reports of the vehicle that may have been seen, in the area be reported to the Utah Highway Patrol dispatch at 801-887-3800.
