Man dies after heroically saving his wife from DUI driver

SPRINGVILLE, Utah (ABC4) — One is dead after a fatal accident near 400 South and 40 East in Springville.

According to Springville Police Department, just after 6:30 p.m., a truck pulling a trailer left the roadway. A male, who was walking next to his wife, saw the truck driving toward the both of them, and shoved his wife out of the way, taking the entire impact of the truck.

Officers arrived on scene and life saving measures were performed on the man. However, he succumbed to his injuries. The wife is not injured.

Law enforcement identified alcohol as a contributing factor and stated that a DUI investigation was done. The driver was arrested for vehicular homicide, DUI, and other charges.

At this time, Springville Police has not released any other information.
