The Rochester Catholic Schools district dismissed all students early on Thursday due to a concerning phone call, KAAL, KSTP’s sister-station in Rochester, reports.
Police say concerning calls were made to Holy Spirit and the district’s central office. After the students were evacuated, investigators determined that there were no credible threats in the area and that the calls originated outside the state.
Holy Spirit students were evacuated to Gibbs Elementary and picked up immediately. The other schools in the district were dismissed at various times on Thursday morning.
A statement was sent out to parents. It reads, in part:
“We want to reassure you that all students and staff are safe.
Emergency personnel have thoroughly cleared all of our school campuses and have confirmed that all locations are safe. However, out of an abundance of caution and in response to a concerning phone call, we are proceeding with an early dismissal at all schools today, following the guidance of law enforcement.“
The incident comes a week after a gunman shot into Annunciation Church in Minneapolis, killing two and injuring 21.
