Geneva man accused of child porn possession, reproduction granted pre-trial release
GENEVA, Ill. — A Kane County man is facing a slew of felony charges after he was allegedly found to be in possession of and reproducing child pornography.

Karl Bibler, a 27-year-old Geneva resident, has been charged with several felonies, including eight counts of reproduction of child pornography depicting a victim under 13 and eight counts of possession of child pornography, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser announced Tuesday.

The charges against Bibler were handed down after prosecutors said he allegedly possessed and reproduced multiple digital videos containing child sexual abuse material between May 9 and August 27, 2025.

Prosecutors argue that Bibler was aware of the nature of the content of the material he was allegedly sharing and in possession of.

Bibler was eventually taken into custody on Aug. 27.

Bibler appeared in court on Friday for a pretrial detention hearing, during which the court granted him pre-trial release, under certain conditions, while his case is pending.

Bibler is set to return to court on Oct. 9.

The investigation into the alleged child sexual abuse material was spearheaded by the Kane County Child Exploitation Unit, which was started in 2022 by the State’s Attorney’s Office in collaboration with the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.
