Plain Dealing residents urged to boil water due to advisory
PLAIN DEALING, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Town of Plain Dealing has issued a boil advisory for the entire water system.

At approximately 8 a.m. on September 1, maintenance crews responded to an emergency water main blowout on Gilmer Street.

A contractor doing work in the area struck the six-inch water main, and crews were unable to isolate the area. As a result, all water customers in Plain Dealing experienced a loss of water pressure while the water main was under repair.

The advisory is a precautionary measure, and customers are advised to disinfect any water that will be consumed. Consumption includes any water that will be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, food preparation, or rinsing food.

To disinfect water and ensure the destruction of all harmful bacteria and microbes, bring water to a rolling boil and maintain for at least one minute in a clean container.

The Town of Plain Dealing reminds customers that this advisory is precautionary and not a boil order. Customers will be notified when the advisory is rescinded.
