Abilene classic car show raises funds for Alzheimer's cause
ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) Classic cars and community spirit came together today at Rev Up Your Memories, a car show fundraiser in Abilene, with all proceeds benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association.

One exhibitor, Dale Schwesinger, recently returned to Abilene after a long career in the prison system. Originally from Washington State, Schwesinger spent six years working at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Robertson Unit jail before returning to Washington, where he continued working in corrections. Now retired, he and his wife have moved back to Abilene with their children.

The event carried deep meaning for Schwesinger, whose mother passed away from Alzheimer’s and dementia about two years ago.

“That’s the best part, because my mom just died from Alzheimer’s and dementia. So anything I can do for them is just fantastic and I’m 100% for it,” he said.

Schwesinger brought his 1975 Sterling to the show — a car he says he dreamed of owning for over 40 years. He finally made that dream come true and now enjoys sharing it with others.

“I love talking with people who come by, especially those who appreciate the car and want to know more about it. It’s truly a labor of love,” he said.

Schwesinger also praised the strong turnout at Rev Up Your Memories, saying it made him feel proud to be part of something that supports such an important cause.
