Warming and drying trend for your Utah Labor Day Weekend

Warming and drying trend for your Utah Labor Day Weekend
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4) – Happy Labor Day weekend, Utah! We have a quieter set up for Labor Day Weekend throughout the state. High pressure will build over the next several days allowing for peak heating on Labor Day and Tuesday with triple digits returning to Washington County and 90s expected along the Wasatch Front. By the midweek, we could see the Four Corners high pull east and open the door again for increasing moisture and storms. Right now, it looks like moisture potential will increase with impacts focusing southern Utah.

You may have noticed an uptick in haze and wildfire smoke throughout the state. The positioning of our high pressure and its clockwise flow has grabbed smoke from wildfires burning in the Pacific Northwest and will keep hazy conditions Saturday and into Sunday. The Department of Environmental Quality is calling for moderate air for the holiday weekend along the Wasatch Front, Wasatch Back, Tooele and Box Elder County, Grand, Uintah and Carbon counties as well as the SW corner of the state.
