Cyclist killed in Peninsula highway crash
(KRON) — A bicyclist was killed Friday in a crash with a pickup truck at the intersection of Highway 35 and Highway 84 in Woodside, commonly known as “Four Corners,” according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Paramedics arrived at the scene and began giving the victim emergency medical aid.

“The bicyclist was transported by air ambulance to Stanford Medical Center alive, but critical in condition,” the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday. “Despite these efforts, the bicyclist succumbed to injuries sustained during the crash and passed away today.”

The San Mateo County Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the crash. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene of the crash and is cooperating with investigators, the sheriff’s office said.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the cyclist who tragically lost their life in this collision,” San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus said. “This is a heartbreaking reminder that every life on our roads is precious. We must all share the road with vigilance, respect, and care — for cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers alike.”
