New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell was there to discuss the recovery process the city is still undergoing 20 years after the storm.
“So while we can acknowledge the progress, we also can acknowledge we have ways to go. But you have to be thankful and it has to be rooted in gratitude in terms of how far we’ve come,”
Mayor LaToya Cantrell
Anyone wanting to pay their respects to the victims, the memorial is located at the end of Canal Street near City Park Avenue.
