According to Ogden City Fire Department, crew responded to the fire that is located in the railroad yard north of the 31st Street overpass in Ogden, in the area of 3100 Pacific Ave. No homes were threatened, but resources including five engines, two ladder trucks, and multiple brush trucks responded to the scene.
According to a press release from Fire Chief Michael Slater with the Ogden City Fire Department, the fire was burning plastic construction pipe. It was located in a remote area and posed no threat to the community.
Reportedly, crews surrounded the fire and prevented it from spreading into the wooded river bottoms nearby. Multiple agencies including Riverdale Fire, Hill Air Force Fire, and South Ogden Fire responded to the incident, and the fire is now contained.
No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
In a viewer video sent to ABC4, you can see fire and black smoke erupting from the railyard. Officials asked the community to avoid the area and consider using alternate east/west routes such as 24th Street, 21st Street, or 12th Street.
