Louisiana Public Broadcasting mourns loss of anchor Dorothea Wilson
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) is mourning the sudden passing of Dorothea Celeste Wilson, co-anchor and reporter for its weekly news and public affairs program “Louisiana: The State We’re In”.
Wilson passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Clarence “C.C.” Copeland, President and CEO of LPB, issued a statement reflecting on Wilson’s impact at the network:
“It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of our dear colleague Dorothea Wilson. LPB has lost not only a valued staff member but also a remarkable individual whose dedication and kindness touched everyone with whom she worked.”
LPB Executive Producer Linda Midgett also shared her condolences, calling Wilson “a light in this world.”
“She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a delight to work with in every way. On behalf of the entire SWI team, we are so saddened by this loss. We are grateful for the time we had with her and already miss her kind, wonderful presence.”
LPB extended heartfelt condolences to Wilson’s family and friends and said that funeral arrangements are pending. Further details were not immediately available.
LPB said they will honor her during “Louisiana: The State We’re In” at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5.
