Louisiana Public Broadcasting debuts ‘Game Notes’ football show

LOUISIANA (KTAL/KMSS) — This year, Louisiana Public Broadcasting will continue to tell Louisiana stories, now, on the football field.

“Game Notes” is a new weekly pre-game and post-game show that will cover 11 Louisiana colleges from six conferences.

LPB President and CEO Clarence “C.C.” Copeland said, “LPB is committed to telling Louisiana’s stories, and many of those stories are found on the football field. Past LPB series like “Behind the Glory” focused on the personal journey of athletes. With “Game Notes”, we step into the excitement of the season and the energy of game day, meeting viewers where they are, cheering on their teams every Saturday.”

The show will highlight Grambling State University, Louisiana Tech University, Louisiana State University, McNeese State University, Nicholls State University, Northwestern State University, Southeastern Louisiana University, Southern University and A&M College, Tulane University, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Broadcaster Victor Howell will host the show alongside former New Orleans Saints linebacker and Super Bowl champion Scott Shanle.

“Some may be surprised to see sports coverage on LPB, but it’s a natural fit. Football connects families, friends, and alumni across Louisiana. With “Game Notes”, we’re bringing those connections home to LPB and celebrating the passion that unites our state,” Howell said.

The season starts with a Fall Preview Special on August 21 at 7 p.m. There will be a weekly 10 a.m. pregame show on Saturdays, beginning August 30, and weekly post-game notes every Sunday at 6 p.m., starting August 31.

Viewers can watch statewide on LPB and stream anytime at lpb.org/gamenotes or the LPB YouTube channel.

Significant production funding for Game Notes is provided by Southern University and A&M College and the Hargrove Foundation, with additional support from Lafayette Travel, the LSU Alumni Association, and The Cook Hotel and Conference Center at LSU, Louisiana Tech University, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center, Red Stick Sports, and the US Army Baton Rouge Recruiting Battalion.

LPB has served as the statewide public television network for Louisiana since 1975, with stations in Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Monroe, and Shreveport.
