The call came in around 5:24 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27. Officers with Louisville Metro police said they were called to South Brook Street and East Broadway after parents reported that a black man with dreadlocks had driven away in their Gold Chevy Trailblazer with their infant inside.
A few minutes later, staff at U of L Health Jewish Hospital called for help after a black man with dreadlocks left a 9-month-old in the hotel lobby before fleeing the scene. According to court documents, the Chevy Trailblazer was found near South 27th Street, and officers were able to take the driver, 34-year-old Brandon Conley, into custody.
He allegedly told officers he didn’t want to talk about what happened. But according to an arrest citation, officers identified the man captured on hospital security camera footage as Conley.
Conley also faces additional charges from an unrelated incident, where he allegedly exposed himself to employees at the Louisville Public Library.
He was lodged in the Louisville Metro Correctional Center on second-degree indexent exposure, second-degree disorderly conduct, third-degree criminal trespassing, kidnapping of a minor, and theft by unlawful taking (auto) charges.
