EDMONTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Louisville man was taken to the hospital after being shot on Thursday, and a southern Kentucky man was accused of shooting him during an alleged fight in Metcalfe County.
Kentucky State Police (KSP) said in a news release that just after 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, troopers with Post 15 in Columbia were asked to help the Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office in response to reports of shots being fired near a residence on Summer Shade Road.
On the way to the area, troopers were reportedly sent to Burkesville after learning that a man was shot and arrived at the Cumberland County Hospital.
Court documents show that Nicholas Marzette, 33, of Louisville, had allegedly been in an argument with Noah Neal, 27, of Willow Shade.
According to an arrest citation, Neal had taken a lockbox with a gun inside out of his girlfriend’s car.
State police wrote in court documents that Marzette, who was also in the car, walked toward the residence and made a gesture to his waistline when Neal allegedly fired a warning shot into the air, then shot Marzette twice.
Neal was reportedly arrested at the hospital and charged with first-degree assault and discharging a firearm across a public road. He was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.
Marzette reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries from being shot and will be transferred to the University of Louisville Hospital.
The assault investigation remains ongoing.
