Around 9 a.m. on Aug. 26, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the scene of a disturbance in the 4700 block of 4th Street. A second call was made soon after reporting that a woman had been shot.
Responding deputies arrived to find a 55-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Deputies reported that suspect, a 61-year-old man, was found with a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment and was listed in stable condition.
An investigation revealed, the suspect allegedly forcefully entered the victim’s home, shot her before reportedly shooting himself.
No further details are available at this. The Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office will release the suspect’s identity at a later date.
