ISP investigating Sullivan County shooting that left 81-year-old, 75-year-old dead

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. — Indiana State Police is conducting a death investigation after a man and woman were found fatally shot in Sullivan County.

According to a news release, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office requested that ISP detectives launch an investigation into a shooting that occurred at a residence in the town of Shelburn early Monday morning.

When deputies arrived around 4 a.m., they reportedly discovered a man and a woman who were both pronounced dead at the scene. ISP noted the male, who they identified as 81-year-old Keith Sheffler, had a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The female was identified as Judy Sheffler, a 75-year-old.

The Sullivan County Coroner’s Office is also investigating the deaths. The incident remains under active investigation.
