Michael Perniciairo made the surprise announcement during Tuesday’s Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club luncheon at The Cannery.
Perniciaro is the Archbishop Hannan athletics director and a part of the LHSAA Hall of Fame committee.
“This inductee’s achievements, leadership, and dedication have shaped the lives of so many student-athletes. His impact on athletics was far-reaching in the state of Louisiana. But his most memorable contribution began on September 4, 1992, with the airing of Friday Night Football. Friday Night Football allowed him to open a door that had never been previously opened. He championed high school athletics like never before and his legacy will continue to be carried out for generations to come,” said Michael Perniciairo.
The LHSAA will induct its 2026 Hall of Fame Class on Monday, April 20th.
“The LHSAA Hall of Fame represents the highest level of recognition in Louisiana high school athletics. To be chosen for induction is to be celebrated among the most accomplished athletes, coaches, officials, and contributors in our state’s history. I come before you to announce one of the 2026 inductees,” added Perniciairo.
