Deputies arrest Napoleonville man with prior conviction after finding gun
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Deputies arrested a Napoleonville man after reports of a suspicious person seen walking around with a gun in hand.
The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said Michael Peter Butler, 45, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and disturbing the peace. When deputies responded near Jefferson and St. Joseph streets Friday evening, they noted that Butler appeared to be intoxicated.

Butler was allegedly concealing a large-caliber firearm from deputies. Investigators learned that he could not have a gun because of a prior conviction.
He was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and remains in jail on a $75,000 bond.
