Woman dead after large fight leads to shooting in Baton Rouge, police say

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a shooting that killed a woman early Sunday morning.

According to BRPD, officers were called to the 3400 block of Plank Road around 3:56 a.m. on Aug. 24. When they arrived, they found Jonique Brown, 36, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Police said emergency crews attempted life-saving measures, but Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the police, the shooting stemmed from a large fight that broke out, during which several individuals began firing weapons. Brown was struck by the gunfire and died from her injuries.

No suspects have been identified at this time. The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
