Guilty verdict in SF sauna sexual assault of 15-year-old on family trip: jury

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A 52-year-old man was found guilty after a trial by jury of forcibly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old who was visiting San Francisco with family last summer, prosecutors announced Friday.

Jian Feng Li was also convicted of sexual battery, indecent exposure and lewd content, said San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins in a news release. Li remains in custody while he awaits sentencing Oct. 3.

The “horrific crimes” happened in the sauna area of a gym on July 11, 2024, said the DA. The victim was able to escape to a nearby locker room and call a parent for help.

“I pray that this verdict brings them some measure of comfort that Mr. Li will not be able to victimize anyone else as they work to heal from this trauma,” said DA Jenkins.

Li faces 19 years in state person and must register as a sex offender for life.

“While the guilty verdict cannot fully return what the defendant took from the victim, I can only hope that the victim and the family find some peace that justice was done,” added Assistant DA Rick Hullinger.
