Grand jury in St. Landry Parish indicts two for murder, rape

ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY) — St. Landry Parish Grand Jury indicted two individuals on murder and rape charges.

Aaron Lloyd, 34, of Opelousas charged with a murder indictment for the murder of his mother Lisa Lloyd,65.

On June 22, police officers responded to a complaint that Aaron Lloyd was allegedly making statements about killing his mother and placing her body in a trash can outside of a residence at the Park Circle in Opelousas, police said.

During the investigations, officers said they found the remains of Lisa Lloyd in a trash can. The investigation resulted resulted in the arrest of Aaron Lloyd who allegedly admitted to officials to killing Lisa Lloyd, cover her body with trash bags and stuffed her in the trash.

The Grand Jury also indicted Tyler Jermain Sylvester, 26, of Opelousas with first degree rape in relation to an incident that occurred Aug. 2.

According to officials, Sylvester allegedly attacked and raped the victim, then fired shots while running away from law enforcement. The incident resulted in no reported injuries and Sylvester’s arrest.

Chad Pitre, District Attorney, said both first degree murder and first degree rap carries a minimum of mandatory life sentence without probations, parole or suspension.
