Man critically wounded in motel parking lot shooting

CHICAGO — A man was critically wounded after a shooting in a motel parking lot on the city’s Southwest Side.

The shooting happened around 5:25 a.m. Friday at the Carlton Inn in the 4900 block of South Archer Avenue in the Archer Heights neighborhood.

Police said a 33-year-old man was sitting inside a vehicle when he was approached by a person who took out a gun and fired shots at him.

The offender then fled the scene eastbound on Archer Avenue.

According to police, the man sustained multiple gunshots to the body and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

No one is in custody. Area One detectives are investigating.
