According to the Boyd County Coroner’s Office, Barry “Justin” Burton, 30, of Ashland, died in that shooting. He died a little after 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday.
ASHLAND, KY (WOWK) — A man was arrested after a deadly shooting at an Ashland motel early Wednesday morning.
The Ashland Police Department said the incident reportedly started as a verbal fight between two men: the victim and the suspect, 30-year-old Christopher Hammond, of Ashland. They said it happened at the Bluegrass Inn on Winchester Avenue.
The victim was found with a gunshot wound in the motel parking lot, according to the Ashland Police Department. He was flown to the hospital where he later died. The victim’s name has not been released at this time.
Christopher Hammond, 30, of Ashland, was arrested and charged with murder, according to the police department. He is being held in the Boyd County Detention Center.
They said this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
