LIVE: Ingalls, Pascagoula police hold press conference after shooting Friday morning

UPDATE (9:40 a.m.): Officials have confirmed that the lockdown at Ingalls Shipbuilding has been lifted.

UPDATE (9:10 a.m.): Pascagoula police have confirmed that the suspect is in custody.

UPDATE (9:05 a.m.): Pascagoula Police Department officials have confirmed that one person is dead after a shooting at Ingalls.

According to officials, officers are actively searching for the suspect and do have a person of interest.

The shooting happened around 7:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22.

Multiple agents are on the scene.

UPDATE (9 a.m.): Officials with Ingalls Shipbuilding have provided a statement regarding a shooting.

“We do have an active shooter at Ingalls Shipbuilding in the shipyard. We are urging all personnel to shelter in place and to await further instructions. Law enforcement was promptly notified and is currently at the shipyard and responding to the situation.”

Officials said they believe only one person has been shot so far.

“It is too early to provide specifics on casualties or injuries,” said officials.

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WKRG) — News 5 is receiving reports from employees at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula that they are being told to shelter in place due to a possible active shooter.

News 5 has crews on the way to the shipbuilding.
