Woman goes from drug user to working for addiction treatment organization

A petition to revoke the probation of a woman who was originally charged with drug-related offenses in mid-August 2016 came before Baxter County Circuit Court/Criminal Division during a session August 11.
Thirty-nine-year-old Sarah Marie Lynn’s probation was revoked and she was sentenced to six years-probation.

It was also announced that Lynn had graduated from the John 3:16 addiction treatment program and had done so well she had been hired by the group to work with clients.

When Circuit Judge John Putman congratulated Lynn on her new job, she said it had “given me a reason for living.”

Lynn was arrested initially on August 10, 2016, and came as the result of a search for William (Billy) Lewis.

When she was first contacted at her residence in Jordan on August 8, she said she had not seen Lewis in several weeks, that they were fighting and he was engaged to marry someone else.

Officers went to the residence again two days later and Lynn is reported to have repeated her denial that she had seen Lewis or knew of his whereabouts.

When an officer performed a compliance check of the residence, he located Lewis in a bathroom flushing a substance down the sink.

A bag containing white pills identified as Acetaminophen and Codeine, a set of digital scales with residue field testing positive for methamphetamine, multiple smoking devices containing suspected methamphetamine residue, a used syringe and a handgun was located.

Both Lewis and Lynn were taken into custody.

On September 1, Lynn pled guilty to the charges against her and was sentenced to 10 years-probation.

A petition to revoke that probation was fled October 14 last year alleging Lynn had violated the terms and conditions of her probation by possessing methamphetamine, bringing contraband into the Baxter County Detention Center and impairing the operations of a vital public facility.

Several of the probation violations stemmed from new cases opened on Lynn in 2021 and 2024.
