Dawn Spaulding gets 20 years probation on drug charges

Non-operating headlights, a non-operating license plate light and an oddly parked car all resulted in drug charges being filed against 59-year-old Dawn Eilene Spaulding.

She appeared during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court/Criminal Division Monday (December 1) and entered a guilty plea to charges in her three felony cases.

She was put on 20-years-probation and will be required to complete a 12-month drug rehab program at John 3:16.

The first of the incidents occurred on May 17, the second on August 23 and the third on October 22.

Searches of Spaulding’s vehicle following the two traffic stops and the oddly parked vehicle incident turned up methamphetamine, 10 bags of marijuana, 28 Grams of THC wax eight vape cartridges and various items of paraphernalia used to ingest drugs.

The first incident happened in mid-May when a report came into police that woman was suspected of doing drugs in front of the Casey’s General Store. The caller said the woman had parked her car in a way that took up two spaces. Spaulding was arrested when drugs were found.

The second incident happened in late August when the car being driven by Spaulding was pulled over because a light meant to illuminate the license plate was not operating and two large bags of methamphetamine were found.

The most recent traffic stop happened October 22 when a 2015 Nissan Versa driven by Spaulding and traveling on 1st Street had no headlights illuminated.

Searches made during the stop and after she arrived at the Baxter County Detention Center turned up 28.2 grams of methamphetamine. She was charged with furnishing for having drugs on her person after entering the jail.

Spaulding also admitted there was a “meth bong concealed under a fold of her abdominal area.”

Her charges included possession of methamphetamine with the purpose to deliver, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and possession of prohibited articles.

Her attorney, Gray Dellinger told the court that his client would not contest the forfeiture of a vehicle and other property seized during the incidents.
