It all took place at the Wawa on Plank Road on the morning of Aug. 16.
According to the Spotysylvania County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), deputies were called to the business around 6:30 a.m. after a woman was stabbed by a man in the women’s restroom.
Surveillance video showed the suspect, Austin Wayne Wilson, arriving at the location in a vehicle while wearing a black hat, black shirt and black shorts.
The investigation revealed that Wilson allegedly walked into the women’s restroom and hid in a stall. He then climbed over and into the victim’s stall, where he took out a knife and threatened her, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies said Wilson tried to restrain the victim, but her persistent screams forced him to run.
Medics treated the woman at the scene for a slash on her hand, and she was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Wilson was charged with abduction, malicious wounding, assault and battery, obscene sexual display and more.
He is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
