2 adults, 2 children killed in Hartford multifamily house fire

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Two adults and two children were killed in a multifamily house fire early Monday morning in Hartford, according to Hartford Fire Chief Rodney Barco.

Five other occupants were taken to the hospital for evaluation, but the extent of their injuries is not yet known, according to the fire chief.

The house, located at Shultas Place, was deemed a total loss, according to fire chief Barco.

The fire chief said the call came in around 2:36 a.m. When crews arrived at the scene, they saw a heavy fire.

A firefighter also suffered minor injuries, according to the fire chief.

Several fire engines from the Hartford Fire Department are on scene. Wethersfield Avenue is shut down while crews investigate.

No other information was immediately available.
