5 injured in shooting at near NE side apartment complex

INDIANAPOLIS — Five people were injured in a shooting at an apartment complex on Indy’s near northeast side early Saturday morning.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, just before 3:30 a.m., officers were called to the Blackburn Terrace Apartments near Brouse Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found two men and one woman shot. They were all transported to area hospitals for treatment. A short time later, a fourth victim, a male, arrived at an area hospital with a gunshot wound. All victims were reported to be in stable condition, police said.

Later Saturday evening, officers were made aware of a fifth victim that was injured by the gunfire. All victims were reported to be in stable condition, police said.

Investigators found several cars shot up, numerous shell casings on the ground, and a magazine with some bullets left in it.

Neighbors told investigators they heard around 20 gunshots, then several cars speeding away.

No additional information was released. The incident remains under investigation.
