According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, shortly after 2:40 a.m., officers responded to an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Central Avenue on the report of shots fired.
When officers arrived on scene, they searched the area and did not locate any evidence a shooting.
Shortly after, officers received a second call about somebody shot on the fourth floor of the apartment building. Investigators located a juvenile male with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. He died at the scene, police said.
Homicide detectives arrived at the scene and started collecting forensic evidence. Investigators think there was some kind of party going on, possibly in a short-term rental, before the shooting took place. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will be determining the exact manner and cause of death. Afterwards, the MCCO will release the name of the juvenile.
