CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One person is dead after a crash on I-40 in Catawba County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
NCDOT says the crash happened around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday near exit 135 (Claremont). Troopers confirmed that they are at the scene investigating a fatal crash. All lanes of I-40 are open; however, there may be some traffic while officials investigate.
It’s unclear what led to the crash or if any charges will be filed.
