DMV Download | Chuck Brown Day, Summer Renaissance Festival, Arlington County Fair, and more

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Looking for things to do across the DMV on a budget and don’t know how to spend your days off? Or are you new to the area? Well, you’re in luck.

In DC News Now’s latest streaming show, DMV Download, hosts Kaitlyn Dillon and Makayla Jennings explore upcoming events and hidden gems across D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

In episode three, learn more about the tax-free week in Maryland through August 16, local hiking spots, the upcoming Weapons movie, and events including:

11th Annual Chuck Brown Day 

  • Saturday, Aug. 16, from 2 to 7 p.m. with gates opening at 1 p.m. in Fort Dupont Park, Southeast D.C.
  • Celebrate the Godfather of Go-Go music with live music, food trucks, a kid zone, and local vendors
  • Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets
  • Pets are allowed, but must remain on a leash
  • Free admission

Summer Renaissance Festival

  • Saturday, Aug. 16, from 1 to 6 p.m., with the restaurant closing at 2 a.m. at the Shipgarten in Tysons, Virginia.
  • Sample various foods, compete in festival events for prizes, and listen to live music
  • Restaurant is dog-friendly, with pups able to roam off-leash in the dog park
  • Free admission and parking

49th Annual Arlington County Fair 

  • Open Wednesday, Aug. 13, through Sunday, Aug. 17, with various opening times at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center.
  • Kid-friendly rides and activities, as well as a children’s entrepreneur market featuring over 50 kid vendors
  • Enter a burrito, pizza, or pie-eating contest
  • Free admission. Ride tickets are $1.25 each, with packs of 24 rides for $25
  • Attendees are encouraged to use public transportation, with a free ART bus shuttle available at the Ballston Mall Parking Garage.

28th Annual Augustoberfest 

  • Saturday, Aug. 16 through Sunday, Aug. 17, starting at 11 a.m. in the Washington County Agricultural Center, Md.
  • Celebrate German heritage with live music with traditional dances, and activities
  • Visit local vendors and food trucks
  • $10 admission for adults, kids 12 and under enter for free
  • The event will be rain or shine
